The Department of Psychiatry, Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College (SDUMC), in collaboration with the Department of Psychiatric Nursing, SDUCON, organized an Awareness Programme on the occasion of World Suicide Prevention Day on 10th September 2026 at the Hospital Quadrangle, RLJH & RC, under the theme “Changing the Narrative on Suicide.”

The programme highlighted the importance of recognizing emotional distress and early warning signs, providing supportive and non-judgmental spaces, and seeking timely professional intervention. The sessions also addressed misconceptions and stigma surrounding suicide, promoting empathy, understanding, and timely support.

The programme reaffirmed SDUAHER’s commitment to mental health awareness and fostering an environment where individuals feel safe, supported, and encouraged to seek help.
