Bioethics
In view of incremental importance and academic developments in the fields of Bioethics, SDUAHER has established the Centre for Bioethics, Which came into being with effect from 1st November 2018 with the Objectives of
Promotion awareness and understanding of Bioethics in the fields of medical care, public health and research among the faculty members through structured training sessions. Sensitization and Training of UG & PG students in the field of Bioethics Conduct of academic programmes on Bioethics
The UNESCO chair in bioethics was launched at Sri Devaraj Urs Academy of higher education and research by University Bioethics Centre (UBEC) on 17/7/2019 under the able guidance of Honourable Pro Chancellor, Dr. AVM Kutty(Academics) and Dr. C.K.Ranjan (Health care Delivery), Honourable Vice Chancellor Dr.Pradeep Kumar G. and Registrar Dr. KNV Prasad.

Objectives
- Promote awareness and understanding of Bioethics in the fields of medical care, public health and research among the faculty members through structured training sessions.
- To sensitize and train UG & PG students on Bioethics and Human rights.
- To conduct academic programmes on Bioethics.
- To promote and undertake research activities on Bioethics.
- To collaborate activities with institutions of repute in the field of Bioethics for enhancement of knowledge and skill as well as capacity building.
- Provide a platform for student groups to discuss issues related to Bioethics.
- To provide efficient guidance towards choosing the right action when dealing with patients in vexed and not so perfect conditions in patient care in the teaching hospital of SDUAHER,Kolar.

Undergraduate Training:
- Attitude ethics and communication Model (AETCOM) as per the MCI Curriculum to be imparted longitudinally across the MBBS course to be coordinated and implemented through the Centre for Bioethics, SDUAHER.
- Training on professionalism, Human values and ethics for students of Allied Health and Basic Sciences.
- Training on Bioethics to be imparted to the fifth semester students for Allied Health Sciences who would choose the same as elective subject.

Post Graduate Training:
- One day workshop on Introduction to Bioethics and Principles of Medical Ethics as a part of the Induction Programme for Postgraduates during their first year (August-Septemberb
- Clinical ethics Case discussions to be conducted on a quarterly basis for the postgraduates from different disciplines where two cases relating to ethical dilemmas will be presented and will be open for discussions.
- A minimum of one Guest lecture on topics related to Bioethics will be conducted by inviting eminent personalities from the field of Bioethics (In the month of October).

Faculty Training:
- An advanced workshop/ CME on bioethics to be conducted once a year (December) to train faculty involved in teaching ethics.
- TO PROMOTE AND UNDERTAKE RESEARCH ACTIVITIES ON BIOETHICS.
- ACTIVITIES PLANNED AS PART OF UNESCO BIOETHICS CHAIR
- UBEC will be responsible for conducting webinars, faculty development program, guest lectures or training programs for faculty as a as part of UNESCO Bioethics chair- The activities will be conducted once in two months.
- The activity to be conducted will be brought up for discussion in the monthly meeting and one person from the members of the UBEC will be given responsibility of the particular program.
