About Me

Dr. Nitin K. R. is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Cell Biology and Molecular Genetics. He completed his Ph.D. in 2026 at JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research (JSS AHER), Mysuru, where his doctoral research investigated how chronic psychological stress disrupts the Hypothalamic-Pituitary-Gonadal (HPG) axis through altered brain expression of Kisspeptin (KiSS1) and Insulin (INS2), and how these changes contribute to the development of PMOS/PCOS in female rats. His work examined the complex interplay between chronic stress and androgen excess as key drivers of altered kisspeptin expression and consequent reproductive dysfunction in females.
In recognition of his contributions to the field of Reproductive Neuroendocrinology, Dr. Nitin was elected as a member of the British Society for Neuroendocrinology (BSN). His current research explores how a dysregulated HPA axis, under conditions of chronic stress, remodels AVPV and ARC Kisspeptin/KNDy signalling once insulin resistance and ovarian/thecal androgen excess set in, thereby amplifying GnRH/LH dysregulation and exacerbating the ovarian and metabolic features of PMOS/PCOS.
