About Me

I, Dr. Nitin K. R., am working as a Research Associate/Research Scientist at the Department of Cell Biology and Molecular Genetics. I completed my PhD in 2026 at JSS Academy of Higher Education and Research (JSS AHER), Mysuru. My doctoral research focused on elucidating how chronic psychological stress disrupts the hypothalamic- pituitary- gonadal (HPG) axis by modulating brain expression of kisspeptin (KiSS1) and insulin (INS2), and how these alterations contribute to the development of PMOS/PCOS in female rats. Throughout my research, I examined the intricate relationship between chronic stress and androgen excess, both key factors influencing kisspeptin expression and consequently leading to reproductive dysfunction in females. After my PhD thesis, I applied for membership in the British Society for Neuroendocrinology (BSN) and was elected as a member of the society based on my work in the field of Reproductive Neuroendocrinology. Currently, I’m investigating how the dysregulated HPA axis upon chronic stress remodels AVPV and ARC kisspeptin/KNDy signaling once insulin resistance and ovarian/thecal androgen excess develop, thereby amplifying GnRH/LH dysregulation and worsening ovarian and metabolic features of PMOS/PCOS.
