Event Report: Still Life sketch workshop Date: November 28, 2024

Organized by: Chitrakan, Art Club of Cultural Committee, Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College (SDUMC)
Overview: The Cultural Committee of SDUMC organized “Live sketch workshop” as committed in the calendar of events.
Attendance: The event was attended by the interested MBBS students as participants and, Postgraduates and Faculty of SDUMC as audience.
Welcome Address: The evening began with a warm welcome by a representative from the Cultural Committee. Mr Soumik was the Resource Person for the workshop.
Workshop - The workshop started with basic briefing about how to approach the still live sketching with proper perspective and framing, to understand the proportions of the inanimate objects and to give real life effects and to learn contrasting and highlights of the objects.
The participants were briefed and introduced to different pencil grips underhand, overhand and styles of shading (line strokes, block shading, freehand) to the best effect and comfort
The two hour long event sought participation of 15 students from beginners to advanced learner's who progressed in their skills with the understanding of perspective shading and blend of light- shadow tones in their creations
Discussion and Reflections: After the workshop the art was displayed and discussed about the improvements that can be done. Students expressed their happiness in participation of the workshop and appreciated the Resource person.
Feedback and Reception: The response from students was overwhelmingly positive. Students appreciated the workshop and wanted many such events in future.
Conclusion: Workshop was a great success. The Chitrakan, Art Club of Cultural Committee, looks forward to hosting more such events to support and encourage students throughout their time at SDUMC.
