The Medical Education Unit (MEU) & Student Research Committee, SDUMC, Kolar, organized as Institutional –Level Synopsis Writing Workshop for first year postgraduate students on 09-05-2025 at William Osler Hall. The event began with a welcome by DR.Suresh T .N, Convener, MEU and an inaugural address by Dr.Prabhakar K, Dean Principal, emphasizing the importance of research writing skills.
Dr.Sarala N, Director of Academic outlined synopsis structure and title selection, while Dr.Geetha S explained research problem formulation. DR. Suresh T N detailed literature review techniques, PudMed searches, and Vancouver referencing. Dr. Sudha Reddy V R, Director PG studies discussed research objectives using FINER, SMART, and PICOT criteria.
Dr.Pradeep T S covered study design and inclusion-exclusion criteria, followed by Mr.Ravishankar S on sample size calculation and statistical analysis. Dr.Chaitra M C concluded with ethics in research and informed consent.
Students were engaged in group discussion with faculty moderators, refining their synopses. The workshop ended with feedback and a post-test. This comprehensive session equipped PG scholars with essential skills for structuring research proposals effectively.
