A workshop on “Self Directed learning” was conducted by the Medical Education Unit, SDUMC, SDUAHER, Kolar at Institutional level on 16th June 2023 between
8.30 am to 1.30 pm at 3rd floor, CARE building, under the guidance of Dr. T.N.Suresh, MEU Convener, with Dr. Rashmi G and Dr Anitha A, Members
of Medical Education Unit, SDUMC as organizing secretaries.
The programme started at 8.30 am with registration followed by inauguration at 9.00 am with an invocation song. Dr.T.N.Suresh welcomed Principal, Dr. Prabhakar K and
Resourse persons Dr Lakshmi TA and Dr Mangala Rao from St. John’s Medical College, Bengaluru. This was followed by an inaugural speech by Principal Dr.Prabhakar K on the importance of Self Directed Learning for Undergraduate students.

This was followed by a session on introduction of participants and pretest by Dr Lakshmi TA. This was followed by a session on What and Why SDL by Dr Mangala Rao. She explained the details of Self directed learning and its importance for MBBS students.
Dr Lakshmi TA and Dr Mangala Rao explained the steps of Self Directed Learning and SDL hours in NMC Curriculum. This was followed by a group activity on how to incorporate SDL in lecture, practical session, clinical teaching, community visit and in tutorials. This was followed by an open discussion on factors affecting implementation of SDL.
Finally the programme was concluded by posttest, feedback, vote of thanks and felicitation of resource persons.
