World Vitiligo Day 2023 was observed on the 26th June 2023 in Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy , Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College, Kolar, with the theme "VITILIGO: LOOKING INTO THE FUTURE". Patients with vitiligo and their attenders were invited for the programme .The occasion was graced by Dr. Dinesh K, Deputy Medical Superintendent of RLJH.
The event commenced with a welcome address by Dr. Sushmitha Reddy, Junior Resident, Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy, who welcomed the dignitaries, faculty, students, patients and their attenders to the event.
Dr. Rajashekar T.S, Professor and Head, Department of Dermatology, addressed the gathering and gave a speech on causes and different modalities of management of vitiligo. This was followed by a speech by Dr. Hanumanthayya K., Professor of Dermatology on his experience with treating and counseling vitiligo patients and their attenders, following which Dr. Dinesh K, addressed the gathering regarding the advantage of educating the general public about vitiligo and conducting awareness programmes. Educational pamphlets were distributed by the dignitaries to the patients and their attenders to raise awareness and bust myths regarding vitiligo. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Dr. Sushmitha Reddy.
