Dr.Prabhakar.K, Principal, SDUMC and Dr.Krishnappa.J, Medical Superintendent (RL Jalappa
Hospital and Research Center) along with The Karnataka Cancer Society, Bangalore. It was
Organised by The Department of Community Medicine, SDUMC, SDUAHER, Kolar. Dr.
Prasanna Kamath, Head of the Department of Community Medicine, extended a heartfelt
welcome to all in attendance. Dr. Prabhakar. K, Principal, eloquently expounded upon the
paramount significance of screening for cervical cancer. His address resonated with the
audience, emphasizing the profound impact of early detection and treatment of cervical cancer.
Dr Meghadeepa, Assistant Professor, Dept.of.OBG, SDUAHER shed light on the essential
objectives of screening for cervical cancer WHICH served as a powerful call to action and
motivating VILLAGERS. Dr.Meghadeepa said that carcinoma cervix is easily preventable just
by simple pap smear testing and HPV testing. She said every woman aged more than 21 years
should undergo compulsory pap smear if possible once in year as it is bimodal for its
presentation. Dr. Vengamma, The Honb’le Vice chancellor, SDUAHER graced us with her
profound insights during her engaging speech on the awareness of screening for cervical cancer.
Her expertise delved into various signs, symptoms and treatments offering a comprehensive
exploration of their prevalence and the intricate factors that contribute to them. Concluding the
event on a note of gratitude and appreciation, Dr.Pruthvi, Junior Resident in the Department of
Community Medicine, stepped forward to deliver a heartfelt vote of thanks
