The Centre for Ph.D. Programs is involved in coordinating the Ph.D. programs offered by the Academy. The Centre is responsible for organising the Pre-Ph.D. Course Work and monitoring the progress of the scholars. The Centre
functions under the Office of the Director Academics.

Programs
The Academy offers Ph.D. Programs under both the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Allied Health and Basic Sciences. Check the link under the respective faculty page for more details. The regulations governing the Ph.D. programs offered by the Academy is in accordance with the UGC Regulations of 2016 and its amendments.
Examinations
Entrance Examination:
Scholars are admitted to the program twice a year (around August and February). Admission is carried out after the notification of the calendar of events for the entrance examination and the seat matrix.

- Entrance examination comprises of two components:
- Entrance test (70 % weightage)
- Interview (30 % weightage)
- The entrance test will be conducted in MCQ format. 50% of the questions will be from research methodology and the remaining 50% will be subject specific. In the interview, the candidate is expected to make a brief PowerPoint presentation of their proposed research using not more than five slides. The following aspects will be tested in the interview:
- The candidate has the competence for the proposed research
- The research work can be suitably undertaken at institution
- The proposed area of research can contribute to new/additional knowledge
- Pre-Ph.D. Examination:
After admission, the candidates will be allocated with a research supervisor. The scholar and the research supervisor will develop a research proposal that can be undertaken in the Academy within the duration of the program. The research work of the scholar will be guided and monitored by a duly constituted Doctoral Research Advisory Committee. - The scholar has to complete the Course Work and pass the Pre-Ph.D. Examination within one or two semesters. The Course Work comprises of two papers:
- Paper I (Research Methodology)
- Paper II (Area of Specialization)
- Thesis submission:
The scholar will be permitted to submit the thesis for final evaluation on fulfilment of the following criteria: - The final synopsis of the research work is approved by the Doctoral Research Advisory Committee after presentation in an open seminar in the department.
- The scholar has presented the thesis work in a minimum of two Conferences/Workshops.
- The scholar has published a minimum of one original article in a UGC approved journal
- The thesis will be evaluated by two external examiners and the scholar has to defend the thesis in a public Viva Voce.
