COVID-19 exhibits a wide spectrum of clinical presentations, varying from asymptomatic cases to severe pneumonia with fatal outcomes. In addition to established risk factors such as advanced age, male gender and chronic comorbidities, emerging evidence suggests that host genetics play a key role in determining an individual's susceptibility to severe manifestations of COVID-19.
