On the occasion of World Health Day, the Department of Community Medicine, Sri Devaraj Urs
Medical College, Kolar, organized a quiz competition in collaboration with the Indian Association
of Preventive and Social Medicine (IAPSM). This event was part of a national-level initiative,
witnessing participation from over 340 medical colleges across India.
World Health Day is observed every year on April 7th to commemorate the founding of the World
Health Organization (WHO) in 1948. The 2025 WHO theme, "Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful
Futures", focuses on enhancing maternal and newborn health through a year-long global campaign.

Objectives of the Program:
To commemorate World Health Day 2025 by engaging medical students in academic
activities aligned with the WHO theme “Healthy Beginnings, Hopeful Futures.”
To raise awareness and enhance understanding of maternal and newborn health among
undergraduate students.
To foster active participation, teamwork, and critical thinking through the IAPSM
National Level Quiz Competition.
The program concluded with an interactive session, where students actively engaged with questions
related to World Health Day. Dr. Chanditha Krishna Reddy delivered the vote of thanks, expressing
heartfelt gratitude to the dignitaries, organizers, winners, and participants for their valuable
contributions to the success of the event.
Conclusion:
The IAPSM Quiz and World Health Day celebration successfully promoted awareness,
learning, and active participation in public health. The enthusiastic involvement of students and
faculty highlighted a strong commitment to preventive health and education. The event reaffirmed
Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College’s dedication to advancing public health initiatives.
