Dr. Sanjib Bhattacharyya

About Me

Dr. Sanjib Bhattacharyya is currently working as a Head of the Department and Senior Scientist at Department of Cellular Biology and Molecular Genetics (CBMG), SDUAHER, Kolar, Karnataka. His primary research interest is in neuroscience pertaining to dementia and cancer research relevant to gynecological malignancies and pancreatic cancer. Our lab is currently interested for understanding the pathological mechanism of the Alzheimer disease (AD), and Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis that causes cognitive decline. We are trying to develop therapeutic strategy that is mechanism based and poised to reverse or ameliorate the pathological symptoms. Bridging a gap between molecular cause of the neurodegeneration and clinical outcome remains a key challenge to combat the series of socially challenging disease, could offer a tangible benefit for patients.
Dr. Bhattacharyya did PhD from University of Missouri Columbia, USA in 2009 in Bio-organic and biochemistry and Master of Science in Chemistry from IIT, Kharagpur in year 2002. He has more than 17 years of rich academic and research experience in the interdisciplinary research field of chemistry, biochemistry, cancer metabolism, nano drug delivery, pharmaceutical science, nanobiotechnology and neurodegeneration, especially in Alzheimer disease, and effect of dietary phytochemicals on anxiety associated disorders, formulation research. He has many peers reviewed research publications in journal of high scientific impact and many prestigious awards like “Nature’s open innovation challenge award 2015”, K S Krishnan Fellow (a President of India Fellowship) 2012, travel award, so on to his credit. He also has attended and presented many scientific papers in many conferences of international repute such as Gordon conference and ACS. He is a member of the American Chemical Society (ACS). Dr. Bhattacharyya, previously worked as full professor at Southwest University, Chongqing, conducting research on protein misfolding and cytoskeletal disorders related to neurodegenerative disease. In past, he also served as associated professor in Institute of science at Nirma University, Gujrat, India, and MUST, Rajasthan for teaching and education as well.
