NATIONAL DENTIST DAY

Oral health is often overlooked, yet it is an essential aspect of our overall health.
Poor dental hygiene can lead to several health complications, including gum disease,
tooth decay, and even conditions like diabetes and heart disease.

National Dentist Day is observed on 6th march every year to promote oral health
awareness and to educate the public about the importance of oral health.

As a part of this day, the Department of Dentistry, R.L.Jalappa Hospital and
Antaraganga kolar OPD has organized oral health screening camp on March 6th 2025
for the general population also the 25 inmates of orphanage from the kolar town has
taken part. This initiative aimed to address and identify oral health issues, ensuring
timely intervention &care.

Oral health education was provided through a power point presentation,
emphasizing the importance of oral health, diseases of the oral cavity, dental
fluorosis, preventive measures, brushing techniques, and a healthy diet for good oral
hygiene. Orphans were given fruits, tooth paste and brushes as a token of
appreciation.

The success of the program has been attributed to the faculty from the R.L. Jalappa
Hospital and Kolar OPD, Department of Dentistry as well as the Kolar OPD in charge.
