Sepsis is a life-threatening medical emergency resulting from the body's dysregulated and extreme response to an infection. It can lead to tissue damage, organ failure, and death if not treated promptly. Early detection and treatment are crucial to improve survival rates.

Sepsis multiplex PCR is a diagnostic tool that utilizes Polymerase Chain Reaction (PCR) technology to rapidly detect pathogens in blood samples of individuals suspected of having sepsis. This technique allows for the identification of multiple bacterial and fungal species simultaneously, aiding in faster and more accurate diagnosis compared to traditional blood cultures.
