Abdominal Imaging
Department of Radio-Diagnosis
CME | Year - 2025 2026 | 10 Sep, 2025
Dear Sir/Madam,
INVITATION
The department of Radiodiagnosis, Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College, Kolar is conducting a CME on 13-9-2025 and we cordially invite you for the same. The topic of CME is Abdominal Imaging Abdominal imaging in radiology employs a spectrum of modalities selected to suit specific clinical needs, each with distinct advantages and limitations. Plain radiographs are rapid and accessible, useful for detecting bowel obstruction, perforation, calcifications, or foreign bodies. Ultrasound is non-ionizing and excels in real-time evaluation of the liver, gallbladder, biliary tract, kidneys, spleen, and pelvis; it is also the first-line tool in trauma via FAST/eFAST protocols. Computed tomography is the workhorse for urgent abdominal assessments-trauma, acute pain, stone disease, oncologic staging, and vascular evaluation. Advanced CT techniques such as dual-energy CT (DECT) enhance lesion characterization, stone composition analysis, vascular imaging, and reduce radiation dose. MRI provides superb soft-tissue contrast without radiation, with advanced sequences (DWI, MRCP, MR enterography, and MR elastography) particularly valuable for liver, pancreas, biliary ducts, and bowel imaging. As a trainee, mastering modalities, protocol optimization, systematic interpretation, and staying abreast of technological advancements is key to providing precise, efficient, and patient-focused care.
