Development of biomarkers for biodosimetry: old and new
Guest Lecture by Dr.Helen Turner at SDUAHER
Dr.Helen Turner, Associate Professor of Department of Radiation Oncology, Columbia University , Centre of Radiological Research, USA delivered a guest lecture on the topic “ Development of biomarkers for biodosimetry: old and new” at SDUAHER ON 17-01-2025. The session likely highlighted both traditional and emerging biomarkers and the newer approaches in biomarker development focusing on molecular and genomic markers. She also discussed the challenges in standardizing biomarker-based approaches, the need for more sensitive and specific markers for different levels of radiation exposure, and the integration of new biomarkers with existing systems to improve radiation dose assessment.
The session underscored the importance of developing a range of biomarkers for biodosimetry to better understand the radiation exposure and improve health outcomes following accidental or intentional radiation events.
The inaugural function was graced by distinguished dignitaries:
Dr.D.V.L.N Prasad, Chief Administrative Officer, SDUAHER
Dr.Vengamma. B, Hon’ble Vice Chancellor, SDUAHER
Dr.Muninarayana C, Registrar, SDUAHER
Dr.Ashok Kumar B.S, Principal, RLJ College of Pharmacy, SDUAHER
Dr.Kalyani R, Director of Research & Development, SDUAHER, delivered the welcome address. The dignitaries addressed the gathering and also felicitated the guest speaker.
