PERSONALITY DEVELOPMENT PROGRAM

On the 15th of December 2023, Student Council and Department of Student welfare had
organized a Personality Development Seminar. This was done by Dr. Pallavi Hoskote,
Alumni of this college .She was our esteemed resource person. She has given extensive talk
on such leadership skills, team work, community engagement programs at various stages
throughout India . Director student welfare Dr.Pradeep TS welcomed the guest speaker to the
audience which was First year MBBS students (2023-24 Batch).

The personality talk dealt with the theme of self-improvement and general development. She
started the session by asking us to introduce the our person next to us to the audience. This
activity was very interactive and showed us the importance of listening rather than just
hearing. Given the rise in mental health issues and suicidal tendency among medical students,
Madam said that students should always focus on working each day in a planned manners
than keep everything procrastinating till last date stressing the importance of Time
Management in Medical career. Her powerpoint highlighted many important topics such as
mental health, time management, group dynamics and teamwork.

She said Team or group dynamics can be understood as how the team members' distinct roles
and behaviours impact other team members, and the group as a whole. She gave a perfect
example of the Operation theatre setup and various people involved in successful surgery.
She explained the team work can encapsulate the unconscious, psychological factors that
influence the direction of a team's behaviour and performance and help in successful career.

She held another group activity, which taught students the importance of teamwork. She
called MBBS students on to stage and made them collect as much as balloons to win the
prize. Students who worked as a team and did collect as many as ballons were declared
winners and the team coming first and second shared the prize.

She shared her experience both in professional and personal life which was guidance in the
upcoming future of students. She taught MBBS students how to face challenges than fearing
it. She said in MBBS course exposure to stress is very common. She said that we as doctors
should gradually and repeatedly go into these feared situations until we feel less anxious.
This was explained by how she was cornered when she was about to declare death during her
internship and how she overcame later during her post-graduation. She said Exposure to
stress full situation is not dangerous and will not make the fear worse. She explained various
other stressor that can come during MBBS preparation like repeated assignments , exams ,
internal assessments Viva And she briefed how after a while, students anxiety will naturally
lessen. The Personality Development Talk aimed to empower students with insights and
strategies for personal growth.
