OBSERVATION OF WORLD VITILIGO DAY

25 th JUNE 2024

World Vitiligo Day 2024 was observed on the 25 th June 2024 in Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy , Sri Devaraj Urs Medical College, Kolar, with the theme "TREATING SKIN, HEALING MINDS". Patients with Vitiligo and their attenders were invited for the programme. The occasion was graced by Dr. Krishnappa J , Medical Superintendent, RLJalappa Hospital, Tamaka, Kolar, Dr. Dinesh K, Deputy Medical Superintendent of RLJH, Dr. Sudha Reddy, Professor and HOD, Department of Paediatrics, Dr.Mohan Reddy, Professor and HOD, Department of Psychiatry, Dr. Sahana, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry. The event commenced by Dr. Swathi Shenoy, Junior Resident, Department of Dermatology, Venereology and Leprosy invoked the lords blessiings and called upon Dr. Rajashekar T.S, Professor and Head of Department, Department of Dermatology, to welcome the dignitaries. This was followed by a speech by Dr. Hanumanthayya K., Professor of Dermatology on his experience with treating and counseling vitiligo patients and their attenders, following which Dr. Krishnappa J , Medical Superindent gave a speech on Vitiligo in children and its impact of the growing minds of cchildren. Dr.Mohan Reddy, Professor and HOD, Department of Psychiatry emphasized the social stigma associated with the disease. Dr. Sahana, Assistant Professor, Department of Psychiatry, spoke about the importance of counselling and mental care for patients of
vitiligo.
