About Us
The Department of Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics at R L Jalappa Hospital & Research Centre began as a service department and was established as an academic unit in 2017 with the launch of the Integrated B.Sc.–M.Sc. Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics program, followed by the introduction of the Ph.D. program in 2019–20. In accordance with National Commission for Allied and Healthcare Professions (NCAHP) regulations, the department is restructuring its academic programs, redesigning Clinical Nutrition and Dietetics as Nutrition and Dietetics, and offering a four-year Bachelors (Hons) in Nutrition and Dietetics and Masters in Nutrition and Dietetics programs to meet national academic and professional standards. Expanding its academic scope, the department has also introduced a four-year B.Sc. (Hons) Food Science and Technology program as per NEP, 2020, integrating food science, processing, microbiology, chemistry, maths, engineering, and nutrition. The department emphasizes clinical application, research, and industry-oriented training. Through strong clinical exposure, practical learning, and research focus, graduates are well equipped for careers in healthcare, food industry, research institutions, and regulatory bodies.
